A new tax bill passed in the U.S. House of Representatives.
julho 31, 2019
The bill, called the Promoting Respect for Individuals’ Dignity and Equality (PRIDE) Act of 2019, uses gender-neutral terms for marriage. It permits same-sex married couples to amend tax returns based on filing status, outside of the statute of limitations. It also allows the IRS to issue refunds to same-sex couples who married in states that recognized same-sex marriage before the Defense of Marriage Act was overturned. To become law, the bill must also be passed by the U.S. Senate, and sent to President Trump for a possible signature. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) has also introduced companion legislation in the Senate.
