Nov. 30 to Dec. 4 is the 5th Annual National Tax Security Week, the IRS announced.

The goal is to alert taxpayers of the heightened need for security due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “As the holiday season and tax season approach, everyone should remember to take basic steps to protect themselves,” said IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig.

Added to the usual threats, more taxpayers working remotely means fraudsters are trying to use COVID-19 to “scare and scam people out of their identities or money” added Rettig.
